I am at the home of my godbrother Giriraja Swami in California, USA, enjoying his sweet association. Tomorrow I move to San Jose to benefit from the sanga of Vaisesika prabhu and other vaisnavas. I feel most fortunate.

“In the association of pure devotees, discussion of the pastimes and activities of the Supreme Personality of Godhead is very pleasing and satisfying to the ear and the heart. By cultivating such knowledge one gradually becomes advanced on the path of liberation, and thereafter he is freed, and his attraction becomes fixed. Then real devotion and devotional service begin.” (Srimad Bhagavatam).

The Sadhu Sanga Retreat in North Carolina, attracted almost 2,000 devotees for 3 days of kirtan. Everyone was pleased with the nice facilities, the tasty prasadam and the wonderful spiritual atmosphere created by focusing on chanting the holy names for hours on end with some of the best kirtaneers in ISKCON. All glories to Srila Prabupada!

I am in London with my traveling companion Bada Haridas for several days of programs, including Ratha Yatra this Sunday. My good fortune is to also be reading my godbrother Shyamasundar das’ new book, “Chasing Rhinos With The Swami” which gives an amazing detailed account of the beginning of the Hare Krishna Movement in London in the late 1960’s. By Krishna’s grace and Srila Prabhupada’s mercy the movement continues to grow here in leaps and bounds. To obtain a copy of Shyamasundara’s historic book contact:

Oxford, a city in central southern England, revolves around it’s prestigious university established in the 12th century. ISKCON’s Saunaka Rsi das established the Oxford Centre For Hindu Studies there in 1997 with the aim of sharing our Vaisnava tradition with the academia and students of Oxford. The project has brought great recognition and honor to our movement. A number of scholarly devotees serve in the Centre. Myself and Bada Haridas led a small program for local devotees during our stay in Oxford.

ISKCON’s annual Ratha Yatra in London on Sunday was a huge success. In perfect weather, a thousand devotees pulled 3 chariots through the center of the city to Trafalgar Square. In that prestigious place many tourists, guests, and devotees enjoyed several hours of transcendental entertainment. Devotees were remembering how Srila Prabhupada himself attended London Ratha Yatra in Trafalgar Square in the early 1970’s. By his grace the event is getting bigger every year.

Lord Narayana speaking to Gopa Kumara:

“Welcome, welcome, my dear boy! I am fortunate – most fortunate – to meet you here. For so long I have been eager to see you! My dear friend, you have passed many lifetimes without paying any attention to me at all. For so long hope had me dancing like a fool thinking, ‘Perhaps in this lifetime, or this, or this, or this, he will finally turn his face toward me.’ But I could find no pretext on which to bring you to my abode, dear brothe

Today myself, Bada Haridas and several local devotees in Skopje, Macedonia were on two prime time television programs; one in the morning at breakfast time and another at lunch time. Each program was watched by over one million people. When I inquired how it was possible so many people could be watching, one of the producers smiled and replied, “Here in Macedonia we are habituated to watch television while enjoying breakfast and lunch.” Srila Prabhupada, we offer the results to your lotus feet and pray that we may serve your samkirtan movement until all the 14 worlds are chanting the holy names!

Tomorrow I arrive just in time for our first festival of the season along the Baltic Sea in Poland. For two months our festival team of 300 devotees will inundate the coastline with the nectar of Sri Krsna’s holy names and our attractive festive programs. It will be the highlight of my year, the fruit of all my endeavors, the answer to all my prayers and the very essence of my service to my spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada. As my heart beats in great expectation, I meditate on the words of a famous Vaisnava poet:

1. “Glory, glory to Lord Nityananda Candra! He tastes the sweet nectar of samkirtan! He is beyond all the Agama scriptures. He is the root of all transcendental bliss. He is the shelter of all the worlds. He is the master of the devotee’s lives.

2. Seeing the fallen sinners, He casts upon them a glance of mercy. He fills all the worlds with the shoreless ocean of His mercy. He chases away all sins. He breaks into pieces the fear of repeated birth and death. Glorious, glorious is His descent into this world!

3. He engages the people of this world in the chanting of Hari samkirtana. He engages the demigods and the humans. He engages even the birds, beasts and snakes. To everyone without exception, He gives the sweet nectar of ecstatic spiritual love – love that is the essence of all the Vedas.

4. By the power of spiritual love for the holy names – love that is the most auspicious thing in all the worlds – He chases away the blinding darkness of Kali Yuga. He saves everyone from the path that leads to Yamaraja’s abode. Only wicked Rama dasa He has not saved. Only fallen Rama dasa remains.

[ By Rama dasa, song 69, from “Prayers of Vaisnava Acaryas, ” a collection of songs and poems composed by devotees after the disappearance Lord Caitanya and Lord Nityananda. Translated by Kusakratha dasa

Heading north to the coast on your order, Srila Prabhupada!

“Showing compassion to all living entities, you will attain self-realization. Giving assurance of safety to all, you will perceive your own self as well as all the universes in Me, and Myself in you.” [ Srimad Bhagavatam 3.21.31 ]

Purport:

“A person in Krsna consciousness, a devotee of the Lord, is always compassionate. He is not satisfied that only he himself is a devotee, but he tries to distribute the knowledge of devotional service to everyone …. A sannyasi, or one who is in the renounced order of life, should wander from door to door, from village to village, from town to town and from country to country, all over the world as far as he is able to travel, and enlighten others about Krsna consciousness.”
