The ISKCON devotees of Omsk, in southwest Siberia, Russia have a big congregation with a large temple, a successful farm ( with lots of milking cows ) and a popular restaurant in the city. They are well known and appreciated for their activities. Many thanks to Ananta Vrindavan dasa for his photography which tells the story of these amazing devotees serving Srila Prabhupada in this far distant corner of the world.

“Destination Siberia”

Omsk, situated in southwestern Siberia, has a population of just over one million people. The region is characterized by harsh winters and blazing hot summers. Nothing, however, has deterred the devotees of Krishna from establishing a beautiful temple, a large farm and a thriving vegetarian restaurant in the center of the city. Our 3-day visit brought all the devotees together for some memorable kirtans and classes!

“Destination St. Petersburg”

The artistic grandeur of St. Petersburg, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities in the world, formed an appropriate backdrop for the blissful chanting, dancing and Krsna katha that took place during our visit with devotees there. Our programs, blended with impressions of Russia’s “Venice of the North” will long be ingrained in our memories.

Spring Bliss in Moscow

Late spring snow did not damper our visit with the blissful devotees in Moscow, Russia. Kirtan went on as usual, with the extra added touch of Bada Haridas prabhu’s nectarian voice and Chaturatma prabhu’s ecstatic dancing.

” Destination Moscow ”

Despite bone chilling weather, our visit to Moscow was blissful due to the warm hearted nature of the devotees who love to chant the holy names and dance in ecstasy. Srila Prabhupada’s visit to Moscow in 1971 planted the seeds of Krsna consciousness which continue to grow in great proportions.

Kirtan Near A Conflict Zone

Dnepropetrovsk is only 200 kilometers from where Ukraine troops and rebels are fighting in a conflict that has claimed nearly 10,000 lives since 2014. Despite the turmoil, local devotees have continued preaching and have learned the art of taking shelter of the Lord’s holy names. The kirtans in Dnepropetrovsk were especially deep and focused on the sound incarnation of the Lord. Devotees appeared especially happy and grateful for our visit. Bada Haridas prabhu and Chaturatma das gave their full energy to enlivening all the devotees.

Dear disciples, friends and well-wishers: Thank you all for your birthday greetings. Please always keep me in your prayers!

“One aged devotee of Krsna addressed Him in this way: ‘My dear Krsna, O killer of the demon Agha, my body is now invalid due to old age. I cannot speak very fluently, my voice is faltering, my mind is not strong, and I am often attacked by forgetfulness. But, my dear Lord, You are just like the moonlight, and my only real regret is that for want of any taste for Your pleasant shining I did not advance myself in Krsna consciousness.’ This statement is an instance of lamentation due to one’s being unable to achieve his desired goal.” [ Nectar Of Devotion, Chapter 29 ]
